Cherished Friends

If I were a little angel, which of course you know I'm not.

I'd give you all you're wishing for, and everything I've got.

I'd wish you sunshine everyday, the moon and stars above.

Great big smiles straight from the heart, and baskets filled with love.

If I was a little angel who knows, just maybe I might be!

I'd give you all you're wishing for because you'd do the same for me.

God must have known there would be times we'd need a word of cheer.

Someone to praise a triumph, or brush away a tear.

He must have known we'd need to share the joy of "little things",

In order to appreciate the happiness life brings.

I think He knew our trouble hearts would sometimes throb in pain,

At trials and misfortunes, or goals we can't attain.

He knew we'd need the comfort of an understanding heart;

To give us strength and courage to make a fresh new start.

He knew we'd need friends that were unselfish, lasting, and true.

So God answered the heart's great need with Cherished Friends ...
